It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that all degree and program requirements have been met. Submission of the Application to Graduate by the required deadlines (see below) ensures that the Registrar has the opportunity to review your program requirements and complete a “degree check”.
Graduation & Commencement
NSCAD students may graduate upon completing their degree requirements in the Fall, Winter, or Summer semesters. However, there is only one official Convocation Ceremony, held in the Spring. Students who have already received their diplomas on the “Degree Conferral (Administrative Graduation) Date” listed below are eligible to attend and cross the stage with their peers. All students who had their degrees conferred the previous Fall or Summer will be included in the official Spring Graduation Program.
Parchment Replacement
We are happy to replace any lost or damaged parchments. Because the parchment is a legal document, there can only be one physical copy in existence.
-
- Damaged or Name Change Replacement: If your parchment is damaged, or if you are replacing it due to a legal name change, please be ready to relinquish the original parchment so that we can reprint a copy for you.
- Lost Parchment Replacement: If you have lost your parchment, you will need to present us with a statutory declaration from a Notary Public that certifies the parchment has been lost. We are not able to reprint a lost parchment without a statutory declaration.
The Registrar’s Office normally charges a $35 fee to replace a lost or damaged parchment. There is no charge to replace a parchment if you change your name legally, or if your parchment is destroyed as a result of a natural disaster. Please contact registrar@nscad.ca if you have questions about the parchment replacement fee. Parchments are reprinted twice per year, once in October and once in May.
