The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) is the federal research funding agency which promotes and supports postsecondary-based research and training in the humanities and social sciences. Other Tri-Council granting partners are the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC).
